iTechworld Connect App — Setup & User GuideUpdated 2 hours ago
1. Downloading the App
The iTechworld Connect app is available on both Apple (iOS) and Android.
- Open the App Store or Google Play Store
- Search for “iTechworld Connect”
- Download and install the app
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the app has permission to use Bluetooth
2. Connecting to Your Battery
The iTechworld Connect app keeps your devices in a single list, so you only need to add each battery once.
- Open the iTechworld Connect app and sign in, or create a profile
- Select “Add a device”
- Use the app’s QR code scanning option and scan the code on the battery
- Open the newly added battery from your device list
- Rename it with a label that matches your setup, e.g. “Caravan house battery”, “Rear fridge battery”
Clear names make a real difference once you have several batteries or power devices in the same vehicle or caravan. Generic labels like “Battery 1” are hard to read quickly and increase the risk of adjusting the wrong unit.
Note: power stations are added slightly differently. A nearby power station is selected from the detected devices list rather than scanned.
3. Main Dashboard Overview
Once connected, the main dashboard shows:
- State of Charge (SOC%) — Your “fuel gauge” showing how full the battery is
- Remaining Capacity (Ah/Wh) — Usable energy left before empty
- Charge and Discharge Isolators — Shows whether each isolator is ON or OFF
Live Electrical Data
- Battery Voltage (V) — Overall system voltage
- Current In/Out (A) — Shows net current. For example: if 40A is going in and 30A is being used, the app shows +10A. If loads exceed charging, the value goes negative.
- Power In/Out (W) — Net watts (voltage x current)
- Estimated Time Remaining — How long the battery will last at the load it is currently running. This changes whenever an appliance switches on or off, so treat it as a planning tool rather than a fixed number.
- Average Voltage — A useful long-term performance indicator
- Total Cycles — Tracks charge/discharge cycle count
- Status — Shows Standby/Normal or Safe Mode (BMS protection active)
- Battery Temperature — The temperature reading from inside the battery
- Individual Cell Voltages — Each internal cell group’s voltage. These should be close to one another; the BMS balances them automatically.
4. Control Centre — Isolator Controls
This tab allows manual control of the battery’s isolators.
Charge Isolator
- Controls charging allowed into the battery
- Normally OFF
- Automatically turns ON when the battery is fully charged
Discharge Isolator
- Controls power out to loads
- Normally OFF
- Automatically turns ON if the battery enters Safe Mode
- Note: if the discharge isolator is ON, the battery will show 0V on the terminals when tested with a multimeter
Before you change an isolator
Check the battery status screen first, particularly if that battery is running essential equipment such as a CPAP machine, a fridge or medical gear. Isolating discharge stops connected loads receiving power. Isolating charge stops the battery accepting incoming charge from your solar, DC-DC charger or mains charger.
Normal operation: Both isolators should show OFF unless the BMS has activated a protection mode. The charge isolator can switch ON automatically when fully charged; the discharge isolator can switch ON if the battery enters Safe Mode.
5. Using Isolators for Diagnostics
The isolators are useful troubleshooting tools:
- To see true load draw: Turn the Charge Isolator ON. This stops charging and shows real load amps.
- To see charger or solar input only: Turn the Discharge Isolator ON. This isolates loads and shows charging amps only.
This is helpful for identifying excessive load use, phantom drains, or verifying solar/DC-DC charger output.
6. Multiple Batteries / Parallel Setups
If you have multiple iTechworld Bluetooth batteries:
- Each battery appears separately in your device list
- Tap between them to view individual data
Current Splitting in Parallel
Input and output current is shared across the bank. For example: a 40A charge going into two parallel batteries will show ~20A on each.
SOC% Differences Are Normal
Because the app communicates with each BMS individually, SOC may differ slightly between batteries. What matters most is that the voltages match closely — a consistent voltage indicates the batteries are working together correctly.
7. Troubleshooting — Battery Not Appearing in the App
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- Confirm the iTechworld Connect app has permission to use Bluetooth
- Ensure the battery has voltage and isn’t completely flat
- Close and reopen the app
- If the battery does not charge, ensure the Charge Isolator is set to “OFF”
- If the battery does not power an appliance, ensure the Discharge Isolator is set to “OFF”
- Try re-adding the battery using the QR code scanning option
