How do I use my iTECHBM500?Updated 3 months ago
1. Ensure your battery is fully charged (13.5V if you have lithium batteries).
2. Connect the negative cables from all loads/chargers to the P- terminal of the shunt.
3. Connect the shunt's B- terminal to the battery's negative. This can be mounted directly or connected via a cable.
4. Connect the positive 'sense wire' from the B+ terminal to the battery's positive.
Once these three connections have been made, your iTECHBM500 display should light up.
1. Hold the OK button down on the home screen until the display changes. You should see the settings appear alongside a flashing number. This is your capacity setting.
2. To alter this setting, press the OK button and the UP/DOWN arrows until you reach your desired capacity. When you have the correct number, press the TOP arrow button to lock it in place.
3. The arrow on the right side of the display should now flash. Press the DOWN arrow to access the HIGH V setting. Press OK to enter this setting.
4. Use the OK button and UP/DOWN arrows to adjust the value (this should be set to 13.5V for lithium batteries). Press the TOP arrow to lock it in.
5. Once again, the arrow on the right side of the screen should start flashing. Press the DOWN arrow and OK to enter the LOW V setting.
6. Use the OK button and UP/DOWN arrows to adjust the value (this should be set to 10.5V for lithium batteries). Press the TOP arrow to lock it in.
7. Again, with the arrow on the right side of the screen flashing, press the DOWN arrow and OK to enter the ALARM setting.
8. Use the OK button and UP/DOWN arrows to adjust the value (this setting can be adjusted to your liking depending on how much leeway you would like between this alarm kicking in and your batteries going flat. We recommend setting this to 10% of your battery's total usable capacity. For example, for a 100Ah battery, set the alarm to 10Ah. For a 480Ah battery bank, set the alarm to 48Ah). Press the TOP arrow to lock it in.
9. The final step in setup is to set the PERCENTAGE value. You must be on the home screen to do this. Press the TOP arrow to return to the home screen. Once you have reached the home screen, hold the UP arrow button for a few seconds. You should see the percentage rise to 100% and the battery symbol fill up. Remember to do this when your battery is between 13.3 - 13.5v.
